With no direct access to sea Macedonia is a landlocked country in the Balkans.

More than 500 000 people live in the Macedonian capital Skopje. That’s about one-quarter of the total population of about 2.1 million.

3.MILLENIUM CROSS
One of the world’s biggest monuments, the Millennium Cross with a stunning height of 66 meters stands tall on the Vodno Mountain in Skopje.
4. THE MAVROVO LAKE
This lake is the largest artificial lake in Macedonia. It lies at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. What is even more interesting is the half submerged church which is located in the middle of the lake.
5. LAKE OHRID
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the oldest and deepest lakes in Europe! It is believed to be 4 million years old, 940ft deep and contains around 200 endemic species!
